How do update Linksys Velop setup firmware?

Linksys Velop Setup firmware

Linksys Velop routers are embedded with Firmware software in it. We can control the hardware through this Firmware. But note that the firmware version should be compatible with the hardware device for which it is installed. That means you have to download the version which should be compatible with the Linksys model you have. User is required to update the Firmware after some time. As new updates have the latest features in it and are also more advanced than the older Firmware.

Updating your Velop system’s firmware keeps your Wi-Fi features current and fixes many performance issues.  This article will show you how to automatically upgrade the firmware of your Velop system.

It is recommended that you enable automatic firmware upgrades.  If you need to manually upgrade the firmware, you must first download the latest version from the Linksys support website to your computer and use it to upgrade your node.

Update Firmware via Linksys app

·        Open the Linksys app on your mobile device.

·        Log in to access the Velop dashboard.

·        After login, go to the Menu icon on the upper-left side of the screen and click on Network Administration.

·        By default, the Automatic Firmware Update feature is enabled and will upgrade the firmware whenever a new version is released.  If you have more than one node in your Velop network, each will be upgraded.

But remember that if you have turned OFF Automatic Firmware Update, you will get a prompt when a new firmware release is available.  When this happens, click on Update Available to update the firmware version.

·        Do not unplug or restart your Velop system during a firmware upgrade.

Wait until the light on your node is solid blue, indicating that your Velop is ready.  And hence firmware updating has been completed via Linksys App.

Update via Web interface

·        Open any web browser on your computer which is connected to the Velop’s Wi-Fi network.

·        After that, Login to Linksys setup page.

·        Here, go to Connectivity under Router Settings.

·        By default, the Automatic box is checked to allow automatic firmware upgrades whenever a new version is released.  If you have more than one node in your Velop network, each will be upgraded.  If you disable this feature, you will have to click the Check for Updates button to check if a new firmware is available before you can upgrade your device.

NOTE:  Do not unplug or restart your Velop system during a firmware upgrade.  Wait until the light on your node is solid blue, indicating that your Velop is ready.
